Determined, dedicated and outstanding are only a few words to describe him

Determined, dedicated and outstanding are only a few words to describe this month’s Honoree of Canada Srilanka’s  Sri Lankan of the Month distinction. Christopher Dhanaraj, is a staunch businessman who has worked hard for everything he has acquired. His focus and drive has helped him to become the amazing father, husband, son, and businessman that he is.

Born in Uva province in the district of Badulla in Sri Lanka, Christopher attended St. Thomas College in Mount Lavinia. As an avid athlete, he actively participated on the field hockey and well loved soccer teams.  During his time at this private school, he was awarded with the prestigious award for young people, the LEO distinction for his outstanding performance and his involvement in social projects.

Mr. Dhanaraj then completed his Bachelors of Commerce degree and used this to initially pursue a career in the world of pharmaceuticals.  Working in marketing for the top pharmaceutical company in Sri Lanka, he was key in leading and promoting pharmaceutical trade for the company.

In 2001, Christopher left Sri Lanka for Canada for new challenges and a new experience.  In 2004, he joined the RBC financial advising team and through hard work and dedication he moved straight to the top, becoming number one and receiving the Presidents Cabinet Award 5 consecutive years in a row for his work in insurance sales.  In 2007, Mr. Dhanaraj was recognized for being the number one salesperson in insurance in the province. Not to be out done, in 2010 he was the recipient of the Gold Award for outstanding sales in the area of insurance.

Christopher Dhanaraj, has shown his commitment to his work through his numerous awards and standing on a variety of committees. His passion and dedication are extended to his community and his family. He is a loyal husband to his wife, Christobel and an involved father to both of his daughters Sarah and Esther. He has a large heart and extends that in his generosity to his faith and the community, as he is an avid sponsor to a variety of faith-based and children’s events. When he finds a little time for himself you might be able to catch him strumming his guitar or engaged in listening to music.

The son of both the Rev. Moses Dhanaraj, and his wonderful mother, who was an administrative assistant for 40 years in the Education Department, Christopher Dhanaraj, we are sure has done them proud by being a true example of hard work, compassion, and dedication to service. What parent could ask for more than that? Congratulations Mr. Dhanaraj!
